WHAT
WE'LL DO
We're bringing together a group of guys to build a custom motorcycle, build a community, and form new social connections.
BUILD A TEAM.
The inspiration for this challenge is to give men an opportunity to socially connect and feel more comfortable in the motorcycle community; a privilege some of us have and wish to share with others. We want to bring men who are either physically isolated or feel isolated together in order to build a motorcycle as a group undertaking.
The goal is to build relationships with men who want to learn more about the mechanics of a bike while also acting as a mentorship program to newer, isolated riders.
The Project
Bike
We will source a project bike, and using input from the build team, together we will work on building a custom, vintage-inspired motorcycle.
Getting Our Hands Dirty
Where possible, the project will incorporate in-person activities providing the team opportunities to connect socially and to work on the project bike together.
The Build
Team
The build team will consists of a group of participants, young men, who may be new riders without a community, and are keen
on building a custom bike.
Community
Involvement
We'll work with the local motorcycle community including builders, customizers, part-suppliers, shops, and creatives to help the team succeed.
The Virtual
Build
Over a period of 10–12 months, the build will be carried out online. Every aspect of the build will have input from those involved, making it a true team effort.
Mental Health
and Wellbeing
Leveraging guest speakers, the project will act a vehicle to discuss mental health issues, with the goal of having a positive impact on the wellbeing of the group.
GIVING
BACK.
Once completed, the project bike will be auctioned at the local Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and the team’s efforts will be showcased to the motorcycle community. The funds raised from the sale of the bike will cover the costs of operating this project into the next year with a new bike and a new team.
